Magnesia Carbon Brick Overview

Magnesia carbon bricks are unburned composite refractory materials. They are mainly made from fused magnesia (or sintered magnesia) and flake graphite (carbon content > 95%). Non-oxide additives are added, and they are pressed and bonded with phenolic resin. This design integrates the chemical stability of magnesia and the physical advantages of carbon, making them suitable for extreme high - temperature and chemically - corrosive environments.

Features and Properties

  1. Mechanical Properties: High strength at normal temperature (compressive strength ≥ 30 MPa) and high - temperature flexural strength (for some models, ≥ 10 MPa at 1400 °C), resistant to mechanical impact.
  2. Thermal Properties: Refractoriness exceeds 2000 °C. High thermal conductivity enables rapid heat dissipation, and a low coefficient of linear expansion ensures dimensional stability.
  3. Chemical Properties: Exhibit extremely strong resistance to the erosion of basic molten slag and can withstand the penetration of molten steel/slag at high temperatures.
  4. Composite Advantages: The addition of graphite significantly improves spalling resistance, compensating for the brittleness defect of pure magnesia bricks.
